Company History
Julie Lewis founded the original Deja Shoe in 1991. Deja went strong for five years until it chose to liquidate its assets (including the trade name) in lieu of bankruptcy. The Deja Shoe brand is now owned by another environmentally conscious shoe manufacturer. By founding a new company, Jade Planet Footwear (not affiliated with Deja Shoe) Julie has taken environmentally and socially responsible shoe manufacturing back into her own hands. “Jade” is not only a name for a "green" gem stone but an anagram for her original company name "Deja".
Jade Planet's first style of shoes is the "Pachira", a style similar to one of the original Deja’s best selling styles, the "Sativa". However, since “Sativa” as a name for use in footwear is already owned by another, Julie chose the name "Pachira" which means "Good fortune" which Julie believes will now come her way as well as yours once you put your feet in a pair!
